    Bernard Salles began his musical studies at the Perpignan Conservatory in organ class, writing, composition, conducting and double bass in the class of Gérard Massat. He continued his studies at the Conservatory of Versailles, notably with Jacques Cazauran. He has played in the greatest French orchestras: Orchester de Paris, Orchester National de France, Orchester Philharmonique de Radio France, under the direction of conductors such as: D. Barenboïm, P. Boulez, L. Maazel, Z. Mehta .. . 

 

    He was a professor at the Conservatoire de Pau from 1976 to 2016, and at the Conservatoire Supérieur du Pays Basque (San Sebastian) from 2000 to 2008. In addition to this, you need to know more about it. As a composer, his repertoire includes more than 70 works for orchestra, chamber music etc. His educational works are published by G. Billaudot in Paris and his pieces for double bass by Récital Music in England.

 

    As conductor, he was the first musical director of the Orchester de Pau. In 2008 he founded the Orchester Symphonique du Sud-Ouest. He is now the musical director of the Osar (Orchester Symphonique d'Alenya-Roussillon). 

 

    Between 1997 and 1999, Bernard recorded 3 CDs under the GALLO label (Switzerland): music for double bass and string quintet and Suites I-V and six choruses by J.S. Bach. His double bass concerto was recorded by Bernard Cazauran under the GALLO label and his first 4 books "Portraits for Friends" for solo double bass were recorded by Dan Styffe under the Fabre label, who also recorded his sonata for solo double bass in the CD "Postcards from Oslo", produced by the label Prima Facie. David Heyes recorded his sonatina "In Memoriam Frantisek Posta" in the CD "Postcards from Prague" under the label Prima Facie.
